UN
Human Rights Council and Commission on Human Rights
On 15 March 2006, the General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/60/251 to
establish a Human Rights Council replacing the Commission on Human Rights.
The Human Rights Council began its work on 19 June 2006.
Just as QUNO participated actively in the Commission on Human Rights it now
works with the Human Rights Council, seeking ways to strengthen the Council’
s work in promoting and protecting human rights.
